How To Stop Worrying And Start Living-Dale Carnegie

Posted by shadow on August 21, 2009

You didn’t pick up this book to read about how it was written. You are looking for action. All right, let’s go. Please read the first forty-four pages of this book-and if by that time you don’t feel that you have acquired a new power and a new inspiration to stop worry and enjoy life-then toss this book into the dust-bin. It is no good for you. I began preparing myself to write this book seven years ago. How? By reading what the philosophers of all ages have said about worry. I also read hundreds of biographies, all the way from Confucius to Churchill.

Men in Love-Nancy Friday

Posted by shadow on September 12, 2008

This is a book about men who love women. Women may not easily recognize that emotion in these pages. These are not conventional valentines. His secret garden is not like mine. A contemporary confusion is that if the sexes are equal, it must mean they are identical; men often predicted I’d find their fantasies similar to women’s. We may seek the same goal in fantasy sexual excitement but men and women get there by different paths.

Short Stories of O’Henry- Part 1

Posted by shadow on September 6, 2008

O. Henry stories are famous for their surprise endings, to the point that such an ending is often referred to as an “O. Henry ending.” He was called the American answer to Guy de Maupassant. Both authors wrote twist endings, but O. Henry stories were much more playful and optimistic. Most of O. Henry’s stories are set in his own time, the early years of the 20th century. Many take place in New York City, and deal for the most part with ordinary people: clerks, policemen, waitresses. His stories are also well known for witty narration.

What Men dont want women to know

Posted by shadow on August 29, 2008

What Men don’t want women to know contains the secrets, the lies, the unspoken truth. Man is a sexual animal, men are the most powerful yet neediest creatures on earth. From infancy they learn that only the strong survive, that they must hide every weakness behind a facade of ambition, power and domination. How does a man open himself to the love, trust, and sexual satisfaction he needs, when he show no weakness, when he cannot take the chance of revealing his true self? This is curse of being a man and, perversely, the dichotomy women find irresistable fascinating.

The exact origin of the Tales, which appear in the Arabic as “The Thousand and One Nights,” is unknown. The Caliph Haroon al Rusheed, who, figures in so lifelike a manner in many of the stories, was a contemporary of the Emperor Charlemagne, and there is internal evidence that the collection was made in the Arabic language about the end of the tenth century. The stories were translated from the Arabic by M. Galland and first found their way into English in 1704, when they were re translated from M.Galland’s French text and at once became exceedingly popular.
